In order to avoid unpleasant surprises on your diving cruise, we collect the most important information or rules about behaviour, safety and life on bard in the followings.

What appertains to the diving equipment?

Beside the traditional equipment every diver should have following pieces of equipment and papers with themselves: 

  • Dive planer or Dive computer with spare batteries (recommend)
  • SMB
  • Mask, snorkel, fins and BCD
  • medical statement or Medical examination certificate (divers under age of 40 not older than 2 years, divers over age 40 not older than 1 year) click here 
  • Log book 
  • certification card
  • regulator with alternative air source 
  • torch per buddy team for diving during day
  • Dive insurance  
  • Passport copy 
  • Voucher from your travel agency  
  • suit (3mm - 7mm) depending of the season. Water temperatures range from           24°C to 28°C April to October and from November through to March 19°C - 24°C.

    We would like to point out again at followings:
    Without valid brevet, Log bool or medical statement or Medical examination certificate, you risk to be excluded from diving during the diving cruise!!!

Baths and Toilets

Please, DO NOT THROW IN ANY CASE the toilet paper, bandages, other sanitary articles or similar into the toilet. Therefore, please use the containers destined for this purpose. Otherwise obstructions can be caused. A repair during the diving cruise is mostly not possible - if it's possible than it will be combined with a dirt and strong odour! In addition the toilet paper floats about the reef and the diving pleasure is disturbed.

2 big towels are available for the week!

Environmental

Some points from the legal definitions for the environmental control:

  • Hunting, fishing, collecting or demolition of corals or shells kills the Red Sea.
  • Dust, oil, fat etc. are forbidden to be poured into the sea. 
  • It is prohibited to drop the anchor in protected fields.
  • Feeding of fish and birds is forbidden.
  • Wearing gloves is generally prohibited for divers.
  • Touching, walking or standing on corals breaks and kills them.
  • The maximum diving depth is 30 m as per regulation by the legislator!

Payment on Board

On board, we do not accept credit cards or cheques! Please, take sufficient cash money with you!!

You can pay in Euro, US$ or in Egyptian pound.

Drinks & Food

Soft drinks, tea, coffee and water you receive on board and without extra charge. For alcoholic drinks on board we charge extra as following:
 - for beer (0,5 litres) 2 Euro
 - for a bottle of wine 10 Euro
(prices based on December 2006).
                   - PLEASE DO NOT FORGET-
The consumption of to much alcohol and diving do not fit together!!!

Meals on board are offered as buffet with wide variety of meat, poultry, fish, noodles, rice and vegetables.

In case of special wishes like: vegetarian food or allergy, please inform us in advanced per email.

Cabins
The cabins on our boats have all portholes. Please, take care that they are closed during sailing or in condition of stormy sea.

Climate and Clothing
At the Red Sea you find the dry desert climate. During summer months the temperature is around 35°C or higher. In winter the evenings are colder. A wind jacket or a warm pullover is generally recommended. On board you need just summer clothes and a warm pullover for cool evenings. In the Red Sea there is often a strong wind -  so do not forget to protect your ears.

Rental-Equipment & Spare Parts

On board of our boats we do not have any rental equipment. If you need rental equipment, please, contact us directly or through your travel agency latest one week before starting the diving cruise. 

Short term procurement is possible; costs however time and could delay the start of the dive cruises!!!

Please, do not forget the most important spare parts for your diving equipment like mask and fin straps, repair kit for the regulator as well as batteries, films and spare light bulb for your torch.

Marine Park

Night dives are generally forbidden in the marine parks of the Red Sea.

Keep off on the islands Zabargad and Rocky.

Enriched Air (NITROX)

Diving with enriched air is possible on all our boats. We offer Nitrox "FOR FREE" on all of them. If you like to dive with enriched air, please, inform us one week before the dive cruise starts how many persons would like to dive with enriched air. 

We fill enriched air in 12l-tanks!!! 

Please, inform us as well if you are interested in a course. Otherwise a course can not be guaranteed.

Smoking
To smoke in the cabins as well as in the salon is forbidden. On the boats, there are fire alarms fitted - those were installed especially for your safety and are sensitive to even the smallest amount of smoke! Do not throw any cigarette end over board – please, use the ashtrays.

Safety

LIFE-JACKETS are on board. The inflating life rafts you'll find on the upper deck. We have fire extinguishers for emergency in all cabins as well as in the salon and in the engine room. Each boat is also equipped with a fire extinguishing-hose.

Directly after your arrival you will get the information where everything is to find in case of emergency and how it works.

Salon
Please, do not wear any wet diving or swimming suits in the salon. The upholstered seats need a long time to dry because of the high humidity and floors become very slippery when wet.

Sleeping on Deck
If you prefer to sleep on deck we would like to ask you to bring your own sleeping bag with you because it is not allowed to take any bed linen or mattresses from the cabins to the deck. You can use the mattresses of the sundeck as a pad.

Shoes
It is strongly forbidden to wear shoes on board. Outside of the cabins and of the salon bath shoes or light sail shoes are allowed.

Language
Language on board is English. All our dive guides speak English and some of them German, French or Spanish, too.

Electricity
On board we have 220 volt alternating current. There is a charging point for torches or cameras on the diving deck.

Diving Accident
On board, there is a 50l-oxygen tank with mask for diving emergency. The accessories for it are with the captain or the dive guide. First-aid kits are on board, too.

To cover the costs in case of emergency like decompression chamber we recommend to sign a dive insurance.

Participation in Diving Safaris

Every diver has to be able to verify a completed diving training and at least 30 logged dives for the participation in a diving cruise. For diving cruises which are going to marine parks you need at least 50 logged dives as per regulation by the Egyptian law. The last dive should be made in the year before the diving cruise is starting.

Even if one of these requirements is not full filled our dive guide has the right to exclude the diver from certain dives during the diving cruise. In addition the dive guide can change the route according to the training and the experience of the participants…

The Red Sea Association rules state that all divers in the Red Sea must complete a Self Declaration Medical Statement before diving. download Self Declaration Medical Statement
If you have any of the medical condition listed, signed clearance from a doctor will be required.

Tour Process
  • Check In on board in the afternoon at the arrival day.
  • Leaving marina on the next day before noon.
  • 5 days in the sea – 3-4 dives per day, depending on the routing, on the weather etc.
  • Last day (day before departure) max. 2 dives, around 3 p.m. back in to the marina.
  • Full Board meals & snacks
  • Check Out latest on departure day.
  • Depending on organization or because of technical reason it is possible to accomodate our guests last night (based on HB) or during the arrival or departure day (based on day use) in a hotel.
  • Transfer back to the airport.

Arrival & Transfer
At the airport of Hurghada or Marsa Alam one of our colleagues will wellcome you already before the passport control - easy to recognize him by a sign with our name and our logo "Golden Dolphin Safari World". You will receive from him the visa for Egypt and he will accompany you to the bus. He will help you anytime.

Our "CHECK IN" on board will take place in the afternoon. Should you arrive earlier, we have to bring you to our office until embarking.

You booked a hotel before diving cruise? Do not hesitate to contact us for clarify the question of transfer to the boat!

TIP

A "Bakschisch" – as tips here are called – is more expected than in some other countries. To avoid unnecessary discussions about the amount of tip we recommend 30 Euro per person per week.

Tip is, however, a voluntary gift as always!
